SMRC Basic Structure
PURPOSE AND MISSION
Established in 2005 with the support of Shannondell at Valley Forge, the Shannondell Model Railroad Club (SMRC) and its Shannondell Model Railroad (SMR) were intended to provide an outlet for creativity and dedication to the form of transportation known as the railroad.
Model railroading strives to mirror the real world of railroading as closely as possible and thus calls for knowledge and skills in many fields, from design and construction, geography, industry, community, entertainment, computer science, photography and finance. In short, model railroading provides the opportunity to use and hone skills in a very broad range of fields.
But model railroading is more than that: it provides enjoyment to everyone, no matter the age, who works on or simply visits the Shannondell Model Railroad.

MEMBERSHIP
The Shannondell Model Railroad Club (SMRC) is a membership organization that owns, maintains and operates an HO-scale model railroad layout called Shannondell Model Railroad (SMR).
Members of the SMRC are residents of Shannondell at Valley Forge. There are two levels of membership: Members and Friends.
Members are eligible for elective office. Members vote on all decisions affecting the SMR, including design and development decisions, budgets, elections and special events. Members are also eligible to operate trains on the layout with suitable training. SMRC has about 50 Members.
Friends are residents interested in and supportive of the SMR but not interested in the day-to-day operation and management of the railroad. Friends do not hold elective office or vote. The club has about 50 Friends.
